Junior Liason Officer (JLO)

Many thanks Sam and Matt for your kind comments re Mick Kelly on the website, saying how sadly all the Junior section will miss him when he moves to his local Darlington GC in March 2009. With Peter Lenagh also stepping down from Junior section duties, both will be a hard act to follow and their contributions will be missed (especially Mick's dry sense of humour), by everyone in the golf members section..

The good news though for the Junior Section, is that our Club Pro Ernie Wilson will be taking over the JLO duties, helping out especially on the home games. Ernie is renowned in the County for his his untiring work coaching and developing young golfers, so he will be brilliant for the Junior section. If anyone also knows a willing parent(s) or adult(s) to help Ernie and the section out, then please contact the main committee asap (14/11/09).

Website and contact information

The website is run purely as an information site for the golf members. As we get no support/finance from the management of the golf club, it is our policy therefore not to advertise to the outside world on the availability of the course. We do however support our local Pro Ernie Wilson; and especially thank him for all the great work he and the Pro Shop do for us on competitions days; hence our comments on the front/home page.

Contact information for the members is via the Members Handbook, Committee Members, or the notice boards. (08/09/08)

Junior Section Update

Hi Carl, spoke to the Committee members running the Junior section; current plans are to re-develop the this part of the website in the coming weeks and re-publish. Thanks for your comments. (29/07/08)

Photo Gallery Pictures

Hi Dave, (whoever you are) would appreciate full name and contact address when leaving your feedback.  The photos displayed are from the old website in the photo gallery format.  Appreciate they are not the best and the plan is to retake a set of new photographs when the sun shines and I have a free day.  These will then be placed on the website, but I cannot promise they can be downloaded into a larger format therefore you will need to 'save' and then to 'move' into a 'photo editor' software to resize.  Thanks for your comment & keep  visiting the website. Summer Knock Outs

The draw on the website is the original draw, which was done on 21/04/08. The spirit of the Knock Out competitions, is that each player(s) arrange to play their matches whenever it suits them; before the set completion date of the round; in this case completion of the 1st round by 15th June 2008.

It's too much of a job to update the website on a daily basis or as results come in; so it's always been the responsibility of all players to check the draw sheets which are posted in the Gent's changing room and arrange their matches. It is also the responsibility of the 'first drawn' players to contact their next opponents

Website will be updated after the 15th June; and a date set for the completion of the next (2nd) round - will put a note to this effect on the website.

Hope this helps and clarifies (04/06/08)

Website design

Good question re the football & cyclists pictures.  It was one of the first questions I asked when I took over the website.  The answer is simply that we rent off a website company, who provide numerous templates to try and suit all ranges of businesses and sporting requirements.  Unfortunately the sports section is limited, and there is no template for golf.  If you like football, cycling or skateboarding then no probs!  But golf is not among them.

Have spoken to website company and requested they consider golf templates in future revisions.  The only other alternative is to switch to the business templates but the styles are not suitable and the change is not considered necessary at this point in time. Plan is to stay as we are and then review options at the end of this season. Hope you liked the website and thanks for your question. (21.5.08)
